The Supreme Court of Guam dismissed the claim of government employees contesting the lack of proper compensation for government employees who worked during the public health emergency. |
The Government of Guam allocated additional funds to compensate those employees, who had to go regularly their workplace during the public health emergency. Government employees were not provided the same benefits under this scheme as private employees, therefore, 10 public servants turned to the Supreme Court and contested the constitutionality of this differential treatment. The Supreme Court dismissed the claim and held that the Government based on its emergency authorization had broad margin of appreciation to decide from the allocation of emergency funds. |
